Kundalini Reiki & PMS: Encouraging Findings from New Research

A study published in the Journal of Nursology in October 2026 explored whether Kundalini Reiki could support nursing students experiencing premenstrual syndrome (PMS). The findings offer an encouraging direction for further research into Reiki as a complementary practice.
What Did the Study Explore?
Researchers randomly assigned 90 nursing students with PMS to receive either Kundalini Reiki or a comparison intervention. They assessed premenstrual symptoms and quality of life, accounting for participants’ scores before the intervention when comparing the results.
What Did Researchers Find?
Students who received Kundalini Reiki showed greater improvements in several PMS symptoms, including:
Pain and fatigue
Anxiety and nervousness
Low mood and depressive thoughts
Sleep difficulties
They also showed improvements in several areas of quality of life, including physical functioning, mental health, social functioning and general health perceptions.
The improvements did not extend to every measure. Researchers found no significant differences between the groups for appetite changes, bloating, energy and vitality, or limitations caused by physical health problems.
What Do These Findings Mean?
These encouraging findings add to the growing body of Reiki research and open the door for further exploration of how Kundalini Reiki may support comfort and overall well-being.
This study of 90 nursing students offers an encouraging foundation for future research. Studies involving people of different ages and backgrounds can build on these findings and deepen our understanding of Kundalini Reiki’s potential to support comfort and well-being.
